WHAT YOU’LL DO
Broadband Installation Technicians install internet, television, phone, and smart-home services inside homes and businesses. You’ll connect the equipment, tune the experience, solve real problems, and help every customer feel confident with their new service.
Install residential and commercial broadband • Configure routers and Wi-Fi networks • Activate customer equipment • Troubleshoot connectivity • Educate customers • Maintain in-building communication infrastructure
UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE
All three roles keep the telecommunications industry moving—each serves a distinct part of the network.

Fiber Optic Technician
Builds communication infrastructure: pulling cable, testing fiber, and maintaining outside plant networks across construction sites and utility corridors.

Fiber Splicing & Network Technician
Focuses on fusion splicing, OTDR testing, restoration, diagnostics, and signal quality in splice trailers, data centers, and network maintenance.

Broadband Installation Technician
Installs customer services, activates equipment, optimizes Wi-Fi, and delivers a great experience in homes, businesses, schools, apartments, and medical offices.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Broadband Fundamentals
Internet technologies, broadband delivery, FTTH, coaxial systems, Ethernet, and voice services.
Residential Installations
Modems, ONTs, routers, Wi-Fi setup, interior wiring, and device activation for connected homes.
Commercial Installations
Structured cabling, network racks, business Wi-Fi, access points, patch panels, and multi-unit buildings.
Wi-Fi Optimization
Signal strength, mesh networking, coverage planning, speed optimization, and dependable device connectivity.
Troubleshooting
Slow internet, no connectivity, equipment replacement, signal testing, network diagnostics, and service restoration.
