01 / LEARNING THROUGH LIFE
Damian Ramirez learned independence early in life. He started working at a young age and had to survive through difficult circumstances, learning many of life’s hardest lessons through real experience.
His path into telecommunications began in door-to-door sales, where he sold television service and learned the fundamentals of connecting with people, understanding their needs, and building trust.
But that work also exposed him to a bigger issue. Customers would sign up for service, but installations and activations depended on much more than one appointment. Technician delays, aerial work, underground access, and network readiness showed him how many pieces had to come together before a customer could actually be connected.
02 / FROM QUESTIONS TO KNOWLEDGE
Instead of simply asking why the system was difficult, Damian asked a different question: “Why can’t I learn how to do that too?”
That question pushed him deeper into telecommunications and utility construction. He began learning FTTH, service activation, underground utility work, aerial support, and the many field disciplines that make or break a successful customer connection.
The knowledge did not come easily. It took training, mistakes, setbacks, persistence, and years of field experience to learn the work well. Damian came to understand that knowledge in this industry is often hard-earned, and too many people never get access to it clearly or early enough.
03 / PASSING OPPORTUNITY FORWARD
Once he developed those skills, he began teaching others. He took people under his wing, trained aspiring technicians, and showed them that what seems impossible at first can be learned through discipline, repetition, and guidance.
Many of the people Damian helped train have gone on to grow into leadership roles, department heads, managers, and business owners of their own. Just as importantly, many of them have gone on to teach others.
That experience shaped a deeper purpose. Damian realized he did not just love building projects or solving field problems—he loved helping people grow.
As he built STAAR Corp, one vision stayed with him: create a nonprofit that could intentionally open doors for others through workforce development, technical training, mentorship, and real opportunity. That vision became Future-Tech Academy.
